The Holy Grail of Consumer reviews will always be Video Testimonials? Why? While written testimonials on Google, Yelp and Facebook are great, they’re still just text. Video allows a consumer to see a real person. It allows them to hear emotion and see expression on someone’s face as they talk about their experience.

What’s the true value of getting someone else talking about how your product or service made their life better? Think about that for a moment. What would it mean if one video testimonial brought in 1 or 10 new pieces of business? How would that effect the bottomline? It’s huge that even another human being took time out of their day to make your organization a video testimonial.  There’s tremendous power in that fact. It says a lot about you.

So how do you quickly and easily get those video testimonials and reduce the friction of them actually doing it. Here are a couple quick ways. First, if you’re not right there with them, is directly asking them by picking up the phone. Pick up the phone, we all have them in our hands or in our pockets. Before you use Magnfi to capture their video testimonial call them directly. Tell them you’re starting a video testimonial campaign and that they were one of the first people you thought of to get a video testimonial from.

Second is do a little incentivizing, it doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, a discount on a future purchase, a gift card at their favorite restaurant or coffee shop works perfectly. Some people shy away from doing incentivizing because they feel that they should just give them a video testimonial, that they’re somehow owed one.

First, your customers owe you nothing, you’re there to serve them. Second, if they give you a video testimonial, they essentially become your spokesperson, a sales person on your website and social media talking about how great your product or service is. Think of it this way, if you were going to hire a sales person, how much would you pay them to sell for you? What percentage of the sale would you give them? A gift card to a coffee shop or a restaurant just got a whole lot cheaper didn’t it?

That’s why people consider video testimonial the Holy Grail of consumer reviews.
